News: Globalping grows and goes independent
Globalping has gone through some big changes in the last couple of months. You may already have noticed that Globalping is now a standalone service and no longer part of the jsDelivr website. While having the services share a space had benefits, we felt it was time for Globalping to have its dedicated platform to grow and develop further.
In this brief update, we want to officially announce the transformation of Globalping into a standalone service, complete with its own website and a new dashboard!
Why the split?
We believe that Globalping has the potential to become an even more valuable tool for developers, network enthusiasts, and students. While Globalping started under the same roof as jsDelivr, it became clear that it needed a separate space – here's why:
-
Room to grow: Separating Globalping lets us build a larger and better service that scales to meet the needs of both solo developers and larger companies. This allows us to implement improvements like a bigger website, new features, and tools like the dashboard specifically for the Globalping community.
-
Focus: jsDelivr is a content delivery network (CDN), while Globalping is a global network measurement platform. By giving each service its own stage, we can better meet the needs of their respective users.
-
Dashboard launch: The launch of the Globalping Dashboard played an important role as well. Its release was a big step for Globalping. So, it made sense to us to launch the Globalping platform as a standalone service at the same time.
What does this mean for you?
Of course, we hope this change isn't only great for the platform but also for you! Here's what we think you'll enjoy:
-
Globalping website: Everything related to Globalping now lives at globalping.io, including a new blog where you'll find updates, feature highlights, and more.
-
No team changes: Rest assured that the same core team continues working on Globalping. Everything has stayed the same in how we work and our commitment to the platform.
-
API limits update: We've started out with high limits that we were always planning to reduce to a more reasonable and secure level. We've made sure to keep the limits generous and sufficient for most users while also introducing ways to increase limits (which you'll learn about more in just a moment). You can read about the specifics in our API limits announcement.
-
New dashboard: This tool helps you manage your probes and increase measurement limits simply by creating an account. You can enhance limits even further by connecting the Globalping probes you host to the dashboard, allowing you to earn credits while they are online. We plan to add more features soon, so stay tuned for updates! In the meantime, learn more about the current dashboard features in this blog post.
What's next for Globalping?
We're just getting started! As you read this sentence, the team is working on new features and improvements for the platform. A few highlights include:
-
CDN, DNS, and Edge compute rankings: We're developing tools to rank popular internet infrastructure providers based on performance, helping you make better choices for your projects.
-
Home network monitoring: Soon, you'll be able to monitor internet uptime, latency, and bandwidth measurements of your home network.
-
And more! The platform will continue to grow with many small and big releases and updates every month!
A huge thank you to our community for your continued support! We hope you're satisfied with how Globaling has evolved and look forward to its future development.
